Training today was quite funny. Not training exactly, but debrief. I mean how can rowing for one minute, rest 40 seconds, row 2 minutes, rest 40 seconds, row 3 minutes, rest 40 seconds, row 4 minutes, rest 5 minutes (repeat 4 times), be funny?

Anyway, Bill was debriefing us and he was talking to us about our 2.4 timings. Jeffrey told him that only 2 girls ran below 12 minutes and Bill wanted to guess. And so he guessed Kai Yan and Geyi. Nope, wrong. Joanne? Wrong. And now, *drumroll please* , he guessed Charmaine! Well, well. Then he continued on how he knew it was Charmaine. He said, very seriously may I add, "The power of love is very great." Hmm, words of great wisdom.

Then he went on briefing us on what we were going to do during the chalet, coming tuesday and wednesday. We're going dragon boating!!! YAY!! Joanne, going to row with you again! But there was a downside. Not to dragon boating though. He said we were to prepare dinner. DINNER! And here in Singapore we're thinking that the age of gender discrimination and stereotypes is over. To that, Rui Yan did a superb rendition of being suitably appalled. She asked "why!" and Bill said that the guys would be doing something else, which is a surprise, that would make us prefer cooking. Joanne, Kai Yan, Melodie and I, on 157 back home, discussed the possibilities and came out with none. Unless they're going to train that is.

That's about all for today. Stay tuned for updates on "Make it FLY". And don't miss me. I'll only be away for 2 days. HAHA. Take care!

I was thinking about today again and how all of us came this far. There were somethings that I forgot to say today.

The past 11 months were the scariest, hardest, most tiring, smelliest, BEST thing that ever happened to me. At first, it was all about me - about me wanting to join a sport CCA, about me wanting to be fit, about me wanting to have fun. You get the picture. The first few months were a stuggle to put it mildly. Before every single training, I would deliberate if I should go. Somehow trainings then seemed so painful, so difficult to get by. With every drop of sweat on the sunken gallery floor, pain began to feel relative. It was either hurting really bad or excruciating or somewhere in between. Until now, I still don't know how we got through that. No one gave up halfway. Maybe it'll be a mystery that would never unravel.

Through those months, walking on mud, singing in the rain, rowing (and swimming - sometimes) in the water, swimming in the pool, running round the track, drinking MRwater (think joanne), unwittingly and unconsciously, we were not only geyi, jasmine, charmaine, nina, joanne, faith, rui yan, kai yan, sam, jia yue, c.a., melodie, janice, but a team. Team of 2007. The team with one heart, one mind, one stroke.

I still remember the time when we came back from the June training. When we went back to school, we had a [Canoeing Table] every break. Although everyone there wasn't doing anything significant, just being there was enough. Enough for me. It's those little things that mean alot. Somewhere, somehow during this whole course, the canoeing bug had found its way into me. I don't know if it was the MRwater. During the CCAAB camp, I felt really horrible not going for training and missing it so badly that after we got killed in Operation Dodo Bird, Jeff, Janice, Ry and I went to do push ups. Call us crazy. Maybe we really are. Teehehe X) Just before the camp I was rather tired of training. 4 water trainings in a row! Gosh! But I guess as the saying goes, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." I really missed training after the first day at camp. Even the comment about canoeists not needed to put their knees on the ground didn't bother me THat much, though it did a little.

The thing is, I want to row, I want to laugh, I want to sing, I want to fly!

I have this quote that says:
"Whatever you are..
Be a good one"

Let's go girls!
Love you all :)

Hello Everyone!!!

I'm HERE!

like... FINALLY? haha

nah, not here to rant abt trng but to show ya all EXCITING pics of trng =P

*may contain images which cause discomfort* =P

here it goes!~

REMEMBER THIS

... the RAW egg, with the smiling yellow yolk floating in the TASTLESS and DILUTED milo in the sch cafe aft gymming?

OR THIS

... when you kicked too hard, but the wrong way. Rubbing the soles of the heels against the hard and worn out foot resting area resulting in a blister, a broken one and mud getting in when you get off your boat and anchor ur feet in the mud?

*F.Y.I: that black thing IS the mud, a.k.a DIRT, and the pretty woman @ the bottom left hand corner is my mama xD*

BUT

All this is worth it, isn't it?

(found in the gym haha CUTE right!)

(where is our kallang trng!!! >:( )

the endless rowing, getting burnt by the glaring sun, forever having to frown our brows and look serious while rowing but was in fact having difficulty to navigate against the sun, hoping to skip running but we went ahead anyway (but full of grumbles), having to eat the same old things at J8 aft every water trng, having to withstand the harsh and cold weather, to row in the pouring rain, to run to the bus stop AS FAST AS WE CAN so to avoid the merciless shower....

all is gonna be WORTH IT isn't it?

Girls, lets work hard, train hard and welcome the year 2007. Its OUR year.

Cheers!

P/S: I'm being mistaken for a malay again. Thanks to my dark skin tone. :( THANKS SUN, BUT I PREFER RAIN!

Capsizing day!!!

whee..
training today was so fun! as in, so MANY boats capsized at the same time haha.. well i think it's because today is a fun session. haha. rui yan, samme and janice were paddling k1, jas&kaiyan, melodie&charmaine, geyi&jiayue and joanne&nina were paddling k2. hah..

in the end, there was this time when we really needed help but no one came to help us, despite us ( joanne, me and jas ) shouting,'' HELP!'' haha... well, at that time, ruiyan cap then samme went to 'rescue' her partner. however, samme cap too then joanne&nina went to help. just as ry was getting up on her boat, she cap again. and this time, coz ry was holding on to nina thus joanne& nina cap too!!! haha...then then then, charmaine&melodie went to save the k2 but more water started to enter the boat so they couldn't do anything.haha.. oh ya. so when jas&i finally reached them, ry, samme and nina&joanne were in the water...haha... AND, the k1s were a distant away from the k2...( weird )
then, ruiyan's paddle floated to the k2 side and the mj coach took the paddle then passed it to the ppl at the k2 side..only then did we realised that it was ry's paddle...haha...as jas and i were like holding on to the other sinking k2, we couldn't pass ry her paddle...so we asked janice to help pass...( it's janice's 1st time paddling with another paddle, see ) and so...halfway from the k2 to the k1, janice cap!!!! ( so exciting...hahah..) ai...funny la..see all the ac ppl cap-ping together...that's the team spirit sia...haha..

in the end, melodie&charmaine rescued samme, ry and janice before holding on to nameless...we then emptied joanne&nina's boat...( my 1st time emptying boat while i'm still in the water!!! haha...jas was so experienced la..haha..) yar... so fun so fun so fun! ahha...we took a super long time rescuing and getting back onto the boat...haha.. i don't think any of us will forget this day la! haha..

so today only charmaine&melodie and jas&i didn't cap. oh, jas&i cap-ped while we were 'playing' that is when we attempted standing in the boat!!! haah...we didn't cap la, just jumped off the boat coz if was too unstable...ahah...

SO FUN, such a hot day too!!! hee=) i'm loving canoeing more and more!! must enjoy trg leh...haah..

'To my one and only partner

I still remember the day we found each other. "A match made in heaven", we used to say. I still believe that. I really do.

I'll always recall the times when we paddled up and down the lanes (straight) and fast (well, kinda) in our T2. Those days were the days when I hoped they would never end and thought that the sun would shine on and on, for ever and ever. Remember how the wind used to blow against us, how the waters glimmered as we 'sped' past? How I wished and wished with all my heart. But I guess some things just won't go our way. Like how a shooting star is only a fleeting gaze of eternity, our match was only fleeting but the memory of its brillance would stay with me for all of eternity..

Well, I think this is it.. Our final goodbye.

"Think of me, Think of me fondly
When we've said goodbye
Remember me
Every so often
Promise me you'll try"

-geyi
